Plain Answers · one clip at a time
Video background masking
You have a clip you want to use, and the room behind you is doing it no favours. A half-finished kitchen, a bedroom, a shop counter with the till open. It can be taken out.
CA$28 for one clip, up to about 60 seconds at 1080p.
Longer clips, 4K, or several clips in one go are quoted per job: the price follows the length and the resolution, because that is what the work actually costs. Send the clip or its length and you get one number back before anything starts.
What I do with it
- Soft or gone. A portrait-mode blur so you stay sharp and the room goes quiet, or a replacement background if you would rather have something calmer.
- Nothing smeared. Anything you are holding, any caption on screen, stays sharp. Blurring the edges of a book you are showing is worse than no blur at all.
- Captions burned after the blur, not before, so the text is crisp and not dragged at the edges.
- The same clip back, at the size and shape you asked for: a square for one place, a tall one for another.
What it suits
- A talking-head clip recorded in a normal room.
- A video call recording you would rather not publish with the whole house in it.
- A phone video someone wants to look tidier before it goes out.
What it is not
It does not make a bad recording good: if the picture is dark or the sound is rough, blurring the room does not fix that, and I will say so instead of taking the job. And if the background is the point, leave it alone.
How it works
- Book the one-clip job on the Square page above, or email julian@plainanswers.ca with the clip, or a link to it, and how long it runs.
- Anything longer or larger gets one number back before it starts.
- The finished file comes back within 24 hours of the job being accepted. One revision is included.
